Whew! May has been cr-a-zy around here with all the end of the school year madness! How about you? I’m so ready for summer and a break from busy schedules!
I did get a quick second to pop out onto our front porch and take some pictures for you guys! I recently refreshed it with some new pillows and cushions and some ferns. Our front porch is always one of my favorite parts of our house!
I love our coral front door, but it makes finding pillows and cushions that coordinate with it such a challenge! I was so excited to find these pillows on sale on Kohls.com! I love that they are colorful with nods to the coral instead of just solid coral like our last pillows!
I looooove all the crepe myrtles blooming in front this time of year! We have a gorgeous one in our front yard and our neighbor has two in his yard on the other side of the driveway. I get to drive under a canopy of crepe myrtles every time I pull into the driveway. It’s glorious!
And can we just talk about my hydrangeas for a second?! We planted four more hydrangea bushes last year for a total of six bushes across the front. Overkill? I think not! Haha! I absolutely LOVE them! The new ones have exploded with growth and make me absolutely giddy!!
When we redid the flower beds last year, we messed with the acidity of the soil and now some of the bushes are pink/purple. I will eventually try to re-balance the soil so they go back to blue, but am enjoying the various colors for now!
I took these pictures at sunset and love the way the sun shines on the porch in the evening.
I usually get begonias for either side of the front door, but the lady at the nursery convinced me to try out ferns since the porch is so shady. They are doing well so far! I feel like I’m turning into a real southerner with ferns on the porch. It sure is a long way from my FL roots where everything is palm trees and hibiscus. Haha! I <3 NC!
Hope you enjoyed the peek at our summer porch and are surviving the end of the school year craziness!
