Hey, Friends! I’m so excited to show you how we finished giving our dining room a refresh! And, because it’s finally fall, I’m also showing you how I decorated the dining room for fall! See my favorite past fall dining room decor here!
The dining room was one of the first things we decorated when we moved into this house 7 years ago, so the decor was starting to feel tired. We have painted almost every room in this house over the years, but we hadn’t touched the dining room paint. The paint was looking dingy and the color just wasn’t flowing with our house as well as it used to.
You may remember, I recently gave our table a makeover. It definitely helped freshen up the room and helped me gather gusto to finally paint the room and finish it up! I belly ached over a new paint color for months (probably years if I’m being honest), but finally decided to go with Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl color matched in my favorite Sherwin-Williams paint. We have Gray Owl in the adjoining entry and living room, so it made sense to carry it through here. I love how it leans blue some hours of the day and green during others. It’s such a great gray!
Did you spot the other big change? We finally parted ways with our gallery wall and changed it out for two long shelves. I love that I can switch up the shelves with seasonal decor and work in some storage at the same time!
Another big change we made a while back was trading out the small teal cabinet for a larger cabinet. I love the color and all the additional storage it gives us for food!
Last Christmas, Jeremy gifted me a blue Kitchen Aid mixer and it pained me to keep it in a cabinet. It’s just too pretty to hide away! I finally decided to move the coffee maker onto the blue cabinet so I could keep my Kitchen Aid out on the counter. Love!
By the way, I totally did not style this picture with a mug. I made myself a cup of coffee in the middle of taking these pictures and thought it looked cute, so decided to leave it. Haha! #needmorecoffee
During the spring and summer, I used the shelves to store pretty serving pieces, canisters, and also used them as a place to display some family photos. But, once we hit fall, I went all out for the season! Most of the fall decor is stuff I already had from previous years, but I did pick up the white pumpkin at Target this year as well as the Home Good’s give thanks sign. Love how it turned out!
I reused my fall table runner and pumpkin jar from previous years and combined them with my every day pitcher and basket on the table. I love the simplicity!
To decorate the opposite corner, I hung these M.A. Hadley plates my Grandma Anita passed on to me. I think of her every time I see them and they just make me so happy!
On the other side of the room, you’ll notice the new curtains. I had actually purchased them for our bedroom, but they didn’t match. I really loved them, though, and couldn’t part with them, so I tried them in here on a whim before returning them. I ended up really liking them in here and love that they tie in with the curtains in the living room!
We have been slowly making the changes in here over the course of two years, so it feels so good to finally have it done! Hope you enjoyed the tour!
