Hey, Friends! I’ve been quiet on the blog and social media lately, so I figured an update was in order! We’ve been sick for the past month which is why you haven’t heard much from me! First, I had a sinus infection, then the flu, then Little Man got sick, then Jeremy got the flu, then Little Girlie was sick. No fun! I’m thankful this is all just temporary and nothing too serious! But, we are tiiiirrrreeedddd.
Jeremy was the sweetest and took good care of me for the two weeks I was sick, solo parenting AND building the entire built-in in the playroom! #heneedsatrophy My birthday fell right in the middle of all my sickness, but Jeremy insisted on going all out with birthday celebrations!
I always make Jeremy and the kids a banner for their birthdays and special occasions and they have followed suit and have been making me banners, too! It makes me feel so loved and they always come up with the sweetest ideas! This year, Jeremy cut paper tulips (tulips are one of my favorite flowers) and had the kids draw pictures on each flower for me. Isn’t it the cutest? It may stay up until the next birthday, because it’s too sweet to take down!
Ever since our first year of marriage, Jeremy has baked me a birthday cake. To fully appreciate this, you should know he can’t even pull off Hamburger Helper. Grilling? He’s awesome. Cooking in the kitchen? Comedy gold.
The first year he baked me a cake, he got to the part where you need to use an electric mixer and didn’t know how to operate the mixer. Side note, he’s an engineer with a PhD, pretty sure an electric mixer can’t master him. Just saying. 😉 Anyway, he grabbed the electric mixer beater attachment and beat the cake with it as fast as he could to replicate an electric mixer on high. It still makes me laugh so hard just thinking of it. I only wish I had been home to see that. Now, it’s his tradition to use the electric mixer beater to mix the cake. His cakes are fluffy, so apparently it’s working for him! Ha!
Look how cute he is acting like he can’t figure out an electric mixer. The stickers from Little Girlie add the perfect touch. 😉
Best of all, do you know what that boy got me for my birthday?! Hold on, I gotta throw on all caps for this… PATRIOTS TICKETS! I REPEAT, PATRIOTS TICKETS! WE ARE ALL GOING TO SEE THE PATRIOTS IN THE FLESH! I CANNOT CONTAIN MY ENTHUSIASM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We live in NC not New England, so I honestly thought I’d never get to see Belichick and Brady together in person before they retire! I can’t even handle it!!!!
In other news, the playroom is close to being done! We were in the thick of the flu during the end of the One Room Challenge, so I just wasn’t able to keep up with the updates. But, Jeremy finished construction while I was sick, then I did all the painting and caulking while he was sick. Only a few more things left on the to do list! We already love it and are in there all the time! Update coming next week!
We also finally made it down to the nursery and picked up some flowers for the front porch. I had to snap a quick, albeit terrible, phone picture before I kill them. Let’s all predict how long I can keep them alive. I give them a month. 😉 Wish me luck!
That’s all the updates for now! What have you all been up to?
