Happy Friday, Friends! Excited to be sharing our next project in the At Home DIY Blog Hop! This month, we are sharing our thrift store upcyles!
I was planning to go scour the thrift store for something to upcycle, but then realized I had a pile of stuff waiting to donate to Goodwill in my house. I decided to sort through that first and found a frame that would work well for an upcycle! Can we just high five for FREE? 😉
I’ve admired pedestal picture frames like this in stores lately, so thought I’d try my hand at making my own!
Here’s what I started with– an old frame, a wooden piece from Michael’s, and a wooden dowel cap from Hobby Lobby.
I used a hack saw to cut the top ball off the wooded piece I was using for my base so that there would be a flat top to rest my frame on. Obviously, I took this picture for show, this is not where or how I used the saw. No need to panic. Ha!
Then, I sprayed everything with my favorite blue spray paint.
Once the paint was dry, I simply glued the frame to the base, then the dowel cap to the top of the frame. I only glued the dowel cap to the frame backing, not the actual frame so that I’m able to remove the backing and switch out the pictures.
So so easy and I love how it turned out!
I bought this pack of 52 weekly verse cards a while back and absolutely LOVE them! They came with a cute display board, but the wood was too dark for my living room. I’m loving how the verses look in my new pedestal frame!
Do you have anything in your Goodwill pile that you could repurpose?
