Hi, Friends! After taking some time off with my kids this summer, I’m finally back behind the blog and rearing to show you all the things we have going on around the house!
This week, Sherwin-Williams announced that their color of the year is Naval! I was so excited as that’s the color we used on Little Man’s ceiling a couple years ago! He is still obsessed with his Star Wars bedroom and the ceiling is still the star of the show!
In honor of the color of the year announcement, I thought it’d be fun to give you an updated tour of his room so you could see how it has evolved as he has grown and his needs have changed. He was five when we redid the room, but is now almost 9. Time flies! I wanted this to be a casual, everyday tour, so I resisted the urge to deck out his bed in pretty throw pillows and fluff all the things. This is how his room looks if you stop by at any random time. Well, add a layer of Legos to every surface thenย it’d be an accurate everyday picture. Haha!
If you missed the original Star Wars Bedroom Reveal, be sure to check it out here!
As you can see, we swapped out the stuffed animal basket for a cube shelf. It’s not a perfect solution, but it was super cheap on sale and serves the purpose for now. Eventually, I’d love to get him a skinny dresser for over here, but it would need to be just the right size. For now, he keeps all his clothes in the closet and loves having additional shelves for toys, books, and of course, displaying his Star Wars Legos.
He really needed a light source on this side of the room, so we added this adorable rocket ship lamp to the top of the shelves and it’s been so helpful! We added a framed picture of him fighting Darth Vadar at Disney for the perfect personal touch.
The window seat has stayed exactly the same and has held up great! The pillows ZigZagz Embroidery and I designed still look brand new! He has a big bucket of Legos in his closet, but uses the Stormtrooper bins to store built Lego creations that he’s not ready to take apart yet.
This side of the room hasn’t changed much either aside from removing the bed rail we built. His Pottery Barn quilt is six years old and still going strong! It has been washed a zillion times and is just now showing some fading. We will probably end up replacing it next year. Seriously, if you are looking for quality bedding, go to Pottery Barn! Their bedding holds up so well!
The under the bed rolling train table is currently being used as a Lego table. Surprised? Sensing a theme? ๐
He loves this Target end table because it gives him more room to display Legos. We found the lamp on clearance at Target for $6 and couldn’t pass that up! Another Disney picture of our family with Chewbacca finishes off the end table.
Over on the other side of the room, we’ve tried to add more places for him to display his awards and treasures. I found this metal Star Wars hook on Etsy and it’s been the perfect solution for his award ribbons and pins.
In between the closet and the bedroom door, we added these two shelves for decoration and to display his trophies, etc. He loves having places to do whatever he wants with and display the things that are meaningful to him! Of course, that includes more Legos on the Lego Minifigure Display I made. Ha!
We also found a nice laundry hamper at The Container Store that perfectly matches his room!
Finally, we hid some additional storage behind the door. We mounted the bulletin boards I made behind the kids’ doors and they love having a place to display their artwork and photos. And, although not on theme, we hung the Hot Wheels Shelf we made years ago for the playroom in here as well. After we redid the playroom, we didn’t have the wall space for it there anymore, but Little Man loved it and wanted to keep it in his room. We were able to find space behind the door for it. When the door is open, you can’t see it! ๐
And, yes, that’s a chore chart on the door. I told you it was an everyday tour and I was resisting the urge to fluff. Ha!
Hope you enjoyed the tour and seeing how the room has changed over the years!
