I’m so excited it’s finally the holidays!!! And, let’s be honest, I’m so excited 2020 is finally coming to a close! Haha! Today, I’m wrapping up this year on the blog with our annual Christmas tour!
I typically keep our Christmas decor pretty similar each year. Our family loves the tradition and sentimental value to seeing a lot of the same decor each year. So, a lot of this is the same, just with some tweaks for 2020 to keep it fresh!
The biggest change to the fireplace this year is that I kept up the mirror instead of putting up the giant wreath over the mantel. I really wanted to put a garland across the mantel this year and didn’t want it to be too overpowered by greenery.
The garland was from Target this year and has a nice, realistic look and feel to it. I also added a bell garland to bring in a little more silver.
Sadly, we had to switch to a fake tree this year. We LOVE getting real trees, but they have always bothered our allergies to some extent. Usually, it’s totally fine, because we are not home every waking moment of the day. But, with Covid, our kids are doing virtual school and we are home all.day.long. We didn’t want to all end up with sinus infections by Christmas because we were inside with the tree too much, so we put on our adult pants, sucked it up, and bought the most realistic fake tree we could find. I will say, getting to put up the tree on Halloween was crazy, err, I mean pretty fantastic!
I switched out the metal tree collar for this woven one. I love how well it goes with the wood accents in the living room! Next year, I want to switch out our red bead garland for something neutral. We’ll see!
We always purchase a new ornament to represent each year, frequently from somewhere we have traveled together. Clearly, that wasn’t going to happen, so I started searching for something that would represent our time at home. We love this one I found on Etsy! 2020 has been hard, but we have loved all the extra time together!
I kept it super simple on the built in and just added a wreath and the little Christmas diorama I made a few years ago.
For the shelf above the couch, I re-arranged some of our existing decor. I’m still over the moon for this print from Pen & Paint!
Moving on to the dining room…
I copied the centerpiece I did last year. It’s so pretty and with it’s low profile, we can keep it on the table during meals. No fuss=my jam.
I had way too much fun decorating the dining room shelves for Christmas. The shelves were new last year, so I’m still slowly trying to figure out how I like them decorated and accumulating decorations for them.
The decor on the top shelf is all recycled from previous years. The silver paper trees I made years ago are still going strong and worked out perfectly for the top shelf! I can’t believe they’re still holding on!
I did purchase new decor for the bottom shelf. You may have picked up on the fact that I’m obsessed with little houses. I am a total sucker for them! These wood houses at Target this year stole my heart! I resisted buying them for a couple weeks telling myself to not be a crazy person, but I knew they’d be perfect here and would carry the wood tones from the frame down onto this shelf. I finally showed them to Jeremy thinking he’d talk me out of buying more little houses, but he agreed they would look great and so, here we are. Hahaha! The bottle brush trees next to the houses are also from Target this year. I love the shape of them!
And to further demonstrate my love of tiny houses, look how cute!
I even added one to the kitchen counter! Both this one and the previous one are from the Target dollar spot a couple years ago.
Ok, moving on before you think I’ve lost my mind. Ha!
For the first time, I bought a little tree for our bedroom. It is the cutest thing ever and makes me so dang happy every time I walk into the room! I hated the red felt pot it came in, so plopped it into a basket. So freaking cute!
I didn’t take pictures of everything in the breakfast nook and playroom because it’s all the same as previous years, but I had to include one of the nativity I made a couple years ago! The kids love it!
One day, I’d like to get a skinny tree for the playroom. Until then, I copied Bless’er House’s garland wall tree. How adorable is this?! I thought I had ordered a silver garland, but it ended up being blue and blending with the wall a little too much, but it is what it is. The kids are obsessed and Little Man made sure to angle his computer to get it into the frame while he’s on school meets. Haha! Our church brought around advent bags for the kids (How sweet is that?! Thanks, Julie!!!), so I made this tree to hang the advent ornaments from.
We re-used the previous decor for the kid’s rooms. They love having their own trees and decor!
This angel is one of the most sentimental Christmas decorations I own! It’s was my grandparents when I was little and I was obsessed with it. I remember fluffing the angel’s hair and watching it (the candle lights up and the angel moves her arms back and forth) for hours when I was Little Girlie’s age. Little Girlie is just as obsessed with her as I was and it makes me so happy!
Last but not least, the outside! Of course, it’s much prettier at night when all the lights on the wreath and trees come on! 😉
Hope you enjoyed the tour! I’ll be taking the rest of the year off, but have SO much to update you on in the new year! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Everyone!
